Dear Tennis Fan,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you on behalf of the ATP to the Orange Prokom Open, which has established itself as one of the most exciting stops on the ATP Circuit.

In the tournament's six-year history fans have witnessed the birth of future clay-court stars including Tommy Robredo, the inaugural champion in 2001. Jose Acasuso, Rafael Nadal and Gael Monfils were also all first-time ATP titlists as teenagers in Sopot.

This year Nikolay Davydenko, an established figure in the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings, will attempt to become the first repeat winner in tournament history, but he will face stiff competition from the likes of Robredo, Juan Ignacio Chela, Jarkko Nieminen, Filippo Volandri and Agustin Calleri.

Polish fans will look to get behind Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski, who captured the doubles title in 2003 and 2005, under the ATP's "Doubles Rules" campaign that includes a "sudden death" point at deuce and a match tie-break at one set all.

Tournament Director Ryszard Fijalkowski and his team are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm and hard work in organizing a tournament that continually grows in stature and reputation. Thank you to the entire tournament staff for the wonderful hospitality and tireless work, and special thanks to Orange for their sponsorship of the event.

Thank you to everyone for supporting our wonderful game! We hope you have a great time watching the world-class tennis on show this week.
