 Ladies and Gentlemen,
I wish to welcome You to this year's tournament. I am extremely grateful to be able to share this piece of good news with all fans of Sopot's clay court competition. Last year's edition of the Orange Prokom Open was recognized as the best organized tournament on the ATP Tour circuit in Europe. This prestigious award is the sum of player opinions and observations made by various ATP officials present at the tournament. It is with great satisfaction that I share this information with the tournament's friends.
I would like to take this opportunity to embrace as one of the above mentioned friends the president of the management board of PTK Centertel Ms Grażyna Piotrowska-Oliwa. The award we were fortunate to receive is after all the result of the harmonious long term relationship of our companies for which I am very grateful. Today we stand before a challenge of increasing the tournament's rank. The competition is tough but we will do everything in our power to make the Sopot tournament one of Europe's biggest.
The Orange Prokom Open is considered to be the sport high point of the summer season by the Sopot authorities. Thanks to the efforts of our tried and tested friend and partner the President of Sopot Mr Jacek Karnowski we were given the chance to build a new center court in the North Park - this will be accomplished next year. The court will seat 5000 spectators and its spectacular location with a view of the sea will maintain Sopot's 100 year old tennis tradition.
It is nice to be able to welcome You among those, who find the athletic and organization challenges of the Orange Prokom Open exciting and interesting to witness. I would also like to welcome Nikolay Davydenko, Tommy Robredo and other great players to the tournament. To welcome our friends the journalists, who are always nice to see. And finally welcome all tennis enthusiasts and the amazing Sopot spectators.
